The new 2016/17 Ethiopian Premier League season will commence on Sunday October 29, and not on Monday October 17 as well earlier planned.
Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) has explained the one week delay is to allow the four newly promoted teams enough preseason training since the Super League ended late on August 31.
Further, EFF has reiterated the need to allow proper maintenance work to be done on different playing surfaces across the country that had taken a beating from intense local and international actions.
The fixtures that were due on September 14 will now be released mid-October.
The changes have not gone down well with the rest of EPL clubs who are lamenting the extra costs of the new changes which they didn’t factor into their budgets.
Dedebit FC wrote to the Juneidi Basha led federation questioning among others the competence of the organization in running football affairs in the country.
