The road to Gabon’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) next year that commenced on 12 June 2015 concluded on 4 September 2016 with 16 teams making the elite list to the biggest continental football extravaganza.
22 players made the top five best scorers in the campaign, among them Ethiopian international and Dedebit FC new signing Getaneh Kebede who netted six times and Burundian Fiston Abdul Razak who shook the net five times; unfortunately their efforts were not enough to take their teams to the promised land.
Algerian El Arbi Hillel Soudani of GNK Dinamo Zagreb, Croatia scored the most number of goals with seven in total, to aid the “Desert Foxes” cruise to Gabon as undisputed group “J” winners with 16 points from a possible 18.
