Former Indomitable lions captain Rigobert Bahang Song has been reported to have suffered a stroke and battling for his life at a Yaounde hospital.
The current head coach of the Chad National team was diagnosed with cerebral aneurysm a life threatening cerebrovascular condition where the blood vessels develops weakness
The 40-year-old was said to be at home when he fell ill and was immediately rushed to hospital, as reported by camfoot.com
The former West Ham and Liverpool player played for Cameroon between 1993 and 2010, featuring in four World Cups. He’s the uncle of Rubin Kazan’s Alex Song, who also played for Arsenal ,West Ham,Charlton and Barcelona.
He holds the unique record of being one of two players to have been sent off in two different World Cups, along with France’s Zinedine Zidane. Song is also the youngest person to have ever been sent off in the tournament, after he received a red card playing against Brazil aged 17.
He retired after the 2010 World Cup aged 34, and has since gone on to manage Chad’s national team
