Former Ghana Black Stars coach, Osam Duodu is reported to have passed away in Accra on Tuesday evening at Koele-bu Hospital where he was admitted after a mild illness.
Osam Duodu was the 1978 AFCON winning coach with the Black Stars and also coached in other African countries, including Gambia’s Baby Scorpions where he led them to lift the 2005 U-17 African Youth Championship trophy.
Osam Duodu had a series of accolades having won the 1993 African U-20 Nations Cup and a silver medal at the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship after a similar feat on during the African U20 Championship for his country Ghana.He was also Ghana’s coach during the 2002 African Cup of Nations, held in Mali.
He acted as technical director and General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association at a point and was the president of the Coaches.
His last official visit to Kenya was in year 2000 during four Nations tournament organized by South Africa Breweries (S.AB) as the Black Stars head coach.
