“ The game against ZANACO at Nkana Stadium for me stands out stands out……….,” Walter Bwalya
He is one of the great players in the league at the moment and while some of first noticed him at Forest Rangers, Walter Bwalya has quite some history in football. Bwezani of Soka25east took time to talk to the Nkana striker who most of the people have been asking about his nationality. But questions are answered and we can move on!!!!
BWEZANI WITH ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL: WALTER TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF
WALTER BWALYA: Nothing much actually Am Walter Binene Bwalya, A Zambian and currently playing for Nkana.
BWZF: WHEN DID YOU START YOUR FOOTBALL CAREER?
WB: I started my football career in Congo at Lubumbashi Sports academy though I have just loved football from the time I was very young. It’s a game that I love and am happy am a player today who a lot of young people can look up to.
BWZF: KINDLY SHARE WITH US YOUR FOOTBALL CAREER IN ZAMBIA?
WB: Some people think my fast time coming to Zambia was when I joined Forest Rangers…. No, I came to Zambia in 2006 and that had nothing to do with football but to visit my relatives and I did enjoy myself. But football wise I decided to play in Zambia in in 2012 with Forest Rangers Football Club in Ndola.
BWZF: HOW WAS THE ATMOSPHERE AT FOREST RANGERS?
WB: I will be quick to say, Forest Rangers is seriously my home and I feel at home there. I can’t never forget the best atmosphere I experience at Forest Rangers, it was great and it feels great to be part of that family.
BWZF: AND THEN CAME TO THE NKANA MOVE, HOW DID YOU FEEL SIGNING FOR NKANA, ONE IF NOT THE BIGGEST FOLLOWED UP TEAM IN THE COUNTRY?
WB: A player always wants to be associated and belong to big clubs, I was excited that I had joined the big club with so much big history in Zambia. For me it’s a big step in football career and no doubt am enjoying myself at this big club.
BWZF: YOU ARE THE TOP SCORER WITH 16 GOALS AND YOU DON’T SEEM LIKE STOPPING SCORING. HOW DOES IT FEEL AND WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?
WB: Actually that is my work. To score goals and a number of players have actually helped me to have those many goals. Bwezani, there is no secret apart from working hard and concentrate on what we do on the pitch. Let me also say it’s not even something to go high boasting about it but to be humble and thank the Almighty God and put him first everything I do.
BWZF: NKANA SEEM LIKE THEY WILL AGAIN MISS OUT ON THE LEAGUE TITLE THIS SEASON, YOUR COMMENT.
I don’t think so Bwezani, we have a total of six games to go and those are massive points, believe me anything can happen and for me and my team mates, of course with the technical team we are still focusing on the league title.
BWZF: BIG QUESTION WALTER. ARE YOU ZAMBIAN AND HAVE YOU BEEN CALLED TO THE NATIONAL TEAM BEFORE?
WB: (laughs) I see this question everywhere and seriously I smile when I see it. Yes, am Zambian Bwezani and was called to the National Team last year and that should be evidence enough. And am sure at the right time I will be called again.
BWZF: WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND AT NKANA?
WB: I have a lot of friends but if am to pick,Fred Tshimenga is my best friend
BWZF: THERE IS ALWAYS TALK THAT YOU ARE SHORT TEMPERED AND VERY EASY TO GET ANGRY. WHAT IS YOUR REACTION?
WB: No no no, people confuse being serious to having a bad temper. When you are serious and concentrating on football, that does not mean you are angry. But anyway everyone has tempers and depends with levels kekekekeke.
BWZF: WHICH GAME IS MEMORABLE FOR YOU SO FAR?
WB: The game against ZANACO at Nkana Stadium stands out, very good game but also I enjoy playing against ZESCO, always has intense excitement and fans follow that greatly.
BWZF: WHAT HAPPENED AT ARTHUR DAVIES AFTER THE 1-0 LOSS AS YOU WERE DRIVING OUT, YOU STOPPED, GOT OUT OF YOUR CAR AND ALMOST FOLLOWED A FAN WHO HAD SAID SOMETHING ABOUT WALTER BWALYA. SHARE WITH US?
WB: Bwezani, you saw that…. There was nothing serious, I just wanted to talk to the fan and answer his concerns about what he was talking about. Unfortunately, he ran away.
BWZF: WHAT NEXT FOR WALTER AFTER THIS SEASON WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN EXCEPTIONALLY CLINICAL AT GOAL.
WB: I really don’t know, it’s too early to talk about that but maybe will talk about that at the end of the season.
BWZF: LAST REMARKS
WB: Thanks Bwezani for the opportunity and continue doing what you do in promoting Zambian football. Thanks again for talking to me.
BWZF: SPECIAL THANKS TO WALTER BWALYA AND WILL GET BACK AS WE GET CLOSE AND A PERSONAL WITH ANOTHER PLAYER IN THE ZAMBIAN LEAGUE! REMEMBER ITS ONLY PLAYERS PLAYING IN THE ZAMBIA SUPER LEAGUE!!!!
