Gabon opened their 2018 World Cup qualifiers with a goalless draw at home against Morocco.

Coach Jorge Paulo Costa named a star studded lineup highlighted by Dortmund forward Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang, newly signed Sunderland midfielder Ibrahim Didier Ndong and former Al Ahly striker Malick Evouna.

The opening half produced no goals and that prompted Herve Renard to make an early change to his set up by bringing inn 19 years old and Malanga striker Youssef En Nesyri in place of Al Arabi.

Morocco’s early change in the second half quickly proved to be effective.

Aubameyang came close but was denied by the Atlas shotstopper Munir Mohammed.

The closing minutes produced nothing as both sides settled for a goalless draw.
