The much awaited and first Soccer league derby match in the lakeside city of Mwanza finally took place at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

The Rock city was a bee hive of activities as early as noon when sets of fans of both teams started trooping into the stadium located in Ilemela area of Mwanza.

 

Rookies Mbao FC playing  for the fist season in top flight and with nine points already at their name  had to deal with neighbours Toto Africans .

 

The match that began at around 4:30 pm EAT started on a bright note with the newbies first to cause a scare at goal.Pius Busuita and Hussein Sweedy were a constant threat at the Toto African goal.

 

The balanced fast pace match lives to its expectation and both teams were cautious not to concede an early goal.

Both teams had two chances each to get the needed opener just before the half hour mark.

The moment of glory finally Came when Mbao FC shook the net after their main striker Pius Busuita penetrated the Toto defence after a sublime through passes from Dickson Ambundo firing home the first goal amid cheers of a section of the crowd mainly on Simba replica.

Toto Africans equalized just within two minutes after a quick counter attack orchestrated by Omega Seme landed on the foot of Jaffary Mohammed to make it 1-1 at the breather .

 

On resumption both teams settled quick in the goal with Mbao creating most of the chances and their attack more hungry for goals.

Mbao then scored two more goals on resumption in the last ten minutes to record a historic win

 

The win sees Mbao move to 12 points at position  6 while Toto remains at position  15 with  eight points and in the relegation zone

 

In other matches played on Wednesday, Dar giants Simba continued with their fine run with a 0-2 thumping of Mbeya City at the Sokoine Stadium to solidify their position at the top.

Adam’s woes continued when Adam Sakanda strike saw them lose their second league match this time at the Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga to high flying Stand United .

Defending champions Yanga beat millers Mtibwa Sugar 3-1 at their new home Uhuru stadium while Kagera Sugar registered a 1-0victory over winless Majimaji of Songea.

The other league match between JKT Ruvu and Tanzania Prisons ended in a 0-0 stalemate .
