Dutchman Pieter De Jongh has quit his position as Rwanda technical director to take up club managerial offer in January 2017.

In his letter of resignation letter dated Friday, October 21, and addressed to Rwandan federation, FERWAFA, De Jongh, who took up the job in May this year says he prefers “everyday coaching”, which is different from duties of a technical director.

“I like every day coaching which is different from the role I have been handling hence the reason to decide going back into my daily coaching career where I will anticipate growing the game,” the 45-year old former AFC Leopards coach said.

He expressed gratitude to FERWAFA and the Ministry of sports and culture, for the knowledge and friendships he gained during his stay.

He further appreciated the support he got from Rwandans, singling out the federation’s boss Mr. Vincent Nzamwita, whom he referred to as a “direct and truthful” person, “equipped with meaningful vision which will take Rwandan football to new heights.”

De Jongh ward-off stiff competition from Giovanni Scanu (Italy), Sebastian Desabre (France), Michael Weiss (Germany) among others to land the job.

A part from Leopards, De Jongh has managed KKC Waalwijk, Royal Dutch Football (KNVB), VRC in Veenedaal, FC Dordrecht, Vitesse Delft and AZ Eredivisie.
