Mamelodi Sundowns keeper Denis Onyango, and Zesco United defender David Odhiambo Owino are among the 2016 CAF Champions League best XI.
The biggest continatal club competition concluded at Borg El Arab stadium, Alexandria, Egypt on Sunday, October 23, with Sundowns being crowned winners, after beating Egyptian giants Zamalek 3-1 aggregate.
Onyango, who is also the Uganda Cranes first choice keeper, stood tall between the posts for “the Brazilians” as they cruised to their first Champions League glory.
Zesco were edged out of the tournament 3-2 aggregate at semis phase by the South Africans (Sundowns), but despite not going all the way, Kenyan international Owino, nicknamed “Calabar” still made the roll of honor.
Also in from the Zambian champions is Owino’s fellow country man Jesse Were, who made the bench. The striker scored four times in the campaign.
The star-studded list, dominated by Sundowns and Zamalek players, comprises among others, heavyweights like, Zimbabwe striker Khama Billiat, Tobego Langerman, Mustafa Fathi and Keagan Dolly.
