St. George FC will face Ethio-Electric in the final of this year’s Addis Ababa City Cup, at Addis stadium, Sunday, November 6.
The Two sides previously met at group phase of the 8-team pre-season tournament with the former winning 4-1.
St. George will be gunning for their fifth Addis Ababa City Cup title, while Ethio-Electric a fourth.
In the Wednesday 2, semi-finals, Ethio-Electric edged Adama City 5-4 through penalties, after a 1-1 regulation time score, to reach 3rd final, while St. George beat Nigid Bank 2-0.
The electricity men, thought they had it all sealed in the 70th minute, when Dawit Estifanos put them ahead, but it was just for a while, as Souleman Mohammed replied for the guests 11 minutes later to tie the game 1-1 at half time.
Ethio-Electric would convert all their spot kicks, with Adama missing one, to reach the final.
Kidus Giorgis as St. George are known, on the other hand were emphatic, beating Nigid Bank 2-0 to sail to their fifth final.
Wonder kid Abubeker Sani struck twice in the 9th and 39th minutes, for his 5th goal of the competition – condemning the bankers to third playoffs with Adama.
In the tie, Kidus’ Ugandan keeper Robert Odonkara was at his optimum – warding off frequent raids from Nigid’s Nigeria striker Peter Nuwadike.
Robert, the reigning Ethiopian premier league goalkeeper of the 2015/16 season, has been summed to Uganda Cranes.
