Zesco United attacking midfielder Cletus Chota Chama “Triple C” will join Egyptian premier league outfit Ittihad Alexandria, January 2017.
The 25-year-old Zambian midfield wizard, whose contract with the Zambian champions expires December this year, Wednesday, November 2, penned a three and a half year deal with the 6-time Egyptian Cup winners, according to the club’s website.
Chama, Mufulira born, has been a revelation under coach George “Chicken” Lwandamina, since joining “the team ya ziko” in 2014.
He won the Zambian Super League on the bounce with the Ndola based side in 2014 and 2018, and has been a core part of the present squad, which unprecedentedly reached 2016 CAF Champions League semi-finals.
His virtuoso performances in the ultimate clubs’ competition in Africa, saw him attract interests from a number of big clubs including Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who knocked them out of the tournament.
Triple “C” as Chama is fondly referred to, operates in small spaces, and has a sharp eye for goal. He proved a handful for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, whom Zesco beat 3-2, (Chama scored a brace) at home, before drawing 2-2 away, in the Champions League group phase.
Ittihad Alexandria, formed 102 years ago, host their home matches at 86,000 seater capacity Borg El Arab stadium, Alexandria.
The team which is currently 5th in the table standings with 13 points from seven fixtures, is manged by 62-year-old Egyptian coach Mokhtar Ali Mokhtar.
