Tusker, Gor Mahia, Western Stima, Chemelil FC, Posta Rangers, Mathare United, Kakamega Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars will play 2017 Kenyan Premier League Top 8 knock-out tournament.
Rangers placed 7th in the league standings and Homeboyz 8th, booked the last two places Saturday, November 5 after beating Sony Sugar 2-1, and drawing 0-0 with 2012 winners Ulinzi respectively, in KPL’s penultimate round.
2016 winners Muhoroni Youth, will not defend the title they won in October after dethroning Gor Mahia 1-0 in the final. The “Cane Cutters” are presently placed outside top 10, and can only go up to 9th in the 16-team log if they win their last league assignment.
13-time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards who are yet to win the 5-year old competition, will miss the next edition, as they are 13th in the table standings.
Tusker and Gor Mahia have bagged the title the highest number of times, with two crowns a piece.
