A group of former Uganda Cranes players stormed the headquarters of Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in Kampala on Monday.
According to information posted on the federations official tweeter handle the former national team players led by George Semwogerere damaged main door to the offices located in Mengo.
“A group of former players led by George Semwogerere, Obwinyi, Walusimbi, Ouma have raided and broken the main door to the FUFA offices,” reads the Tweet on the FUFA handle.
Latest reports indicate that the situation has returned to normal after contigent of police arrived led by Old Kampala Police Station’s Deputy Police Commander, Nsaba Charles.
“The situation at FUFA House is under control after Police led by DPC Old Kampala Nsaba Charles stepped in with his team.”another tweet reads.
It is not yet clear about the motive of the attack but reliable reports indicate that the former players were protesting the football governing body decision of forwarding contested players list during the Golden Jubilee Award dinner held in October at State House Entebbe.
In an event that was not attended by current players and officials,the state awarded the 1978 Nations Cup Cranes players such as Jimmy Kirunda, goalkeeper Paul Ssali, Sam Musenze , Abby Nasur, Barnabas Mwesigwa from the list forwarded by the federation.
