The MTN/FAZ Super league on saturday came alive with seven mouth watering fixtures. It was a day full of mixed results but little or no consequences to the overall League Standing.
Their were three Lunch time Kick off fixtures.
Power Dynamos failed to score at home for the first time this season. The Third spot was up for grabs for the Kitwe giants but it was a frustrating afternoon as they failed to beat resilient Lumwana Radiants. Lumwana on the other hand keep getting closer to safety with each point they gain.
Another Lunch time Fixture saw relegated Lusaka Tigers host Kabwe Warriors. Both went into the match playing for just maybe improving their point tally as one is safe and the other is relegated. Kabwe Warriors brought their scoring boots as hot-cake Jacob Phiri and Joseph Chanda each scored twice.
Lusaka Dynamos and Nkwazi also squared off in a lunch time fixture. The game produced the highest number of goals for day. It ended in a draw as both teams scored three goals and neither was able to find that all important winning goal.
The Nkana stadium hosted a double header and after that disappointing draw for Power Dynamos the focus shifted to the owners of the Stadium Nkana. Nkana welcomed Red Arrows, a team they had failed to beat at home in the previous two meetings. This was the right time to make the record straight but Red Arrows gave them a fight of their lives and 1 all it ended. Walter Bwalya took his tally to 23 for the season and could have easily made it 25.
Nchanga Rangers who have appealed their demotion welcomed winless Mufurila Blackpool to Nchanga Stadium. The home team made full use of their home advantage and came away with all three points with goals from Kabeya Mulume and Clement Mwape.
Green Buffaloes hosted Forest Rangers at Independence stadium. Both teams were just looking at improving their point tally and it was always poised to be a spark-less encounter. A lone Happy Kaunda goal was enough to settle it.
Relegation threatened Nakambala was at home welcomed Napsa Stars to Nakambala Stadium. Both teams failed to find the winner after scoring two apiece. Nakambala needs to pick up points in their remaining games and hope the Nchanga Appeal goes against Nchanga Rangers .
The final Match of the day saw log leaders Zanaco welcome Green Eagles to Sunset Stadium. Zanaco had not conceded a goal at Sunset prior to this fixture. Kabamba Chilibwe’s 62nd minute equaliser was their first at home . Richard Kasonde had put the log leaders ahead in the 61st minute and Eagles reacted quickly with a goal of their own within a minute. Zanaco still leads Nkana by two points but have more games to play compared to Nkana.
Their has not been much Change in the Standings if any.
