Uganda will play a warm-up against reigning African champions Ivory Coast in Abu Dhabi, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 before they head to the African Cup of Nations in Gabon.
“We proudly announce that we have agreed on an international friendly match versus reigning African champions Ivory Coast,” Uganda head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic confirmed, adding that the legal aspects of the tie have been sealed.
Micho assured, “The legal aspects of the game are finished. It only remains to be seen if the required support will come in time for the Uganda Cranes.”
The Serbian has started early preparations with home-based professionals for the continental showpiece that starts 14th January to 5th February 2017 in Gabon, and is hoping to receive the necessary backing to execute his “favorable economical and comprehensive preparations program.”
“We presented Uganda Cranes’ favorable, economical and comprehensive preparation program and we look for practical support in time for its execution.” Micho added.
The team survived with a shoestring budget throughout the qualifiers, and occasionally had to make do with delayed salaries and allowances.
