Amhara region clubs Woldia and Fasil Kenema will today clash for the first time in the Ethiopian Premier League since they gained promotion to the topflight this season.

The week 5 fixture billed as “Amhara derby” is already generating a lot of buzz, and Melka Kolle stadium where the inaugural duel will be staged is expected to hit full capacity.

Over 10 buses of Fasil fans have already hit the ground running and are expected in Woldia to make “the emperors” feel at home away from home.

Hosts Woldia, placed 10th in the table standings after losing 2-0 to Defense last week, will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways, while Fasil who shocked Kidus Giorgis 2-1 will be gunning to move to top five from current 6th position with a win.

Fasil will be without their team manager Zemariam WeldeGiorgis who is in Thailand for specialised treatment.
