Zambian Super League side Zesco United are keen to rope in Gor Mahia defender Harun Shakava ahead of the coming 2017 season.
The talks are still at initial stages but should take shape in the coming weeks, a close source told Soka25east.com.
The Ndola based outfit is home to three Kenyans, defender David Owino, midfielder Anthony Akumu and forward Jesse Were.
Shakava, 24, joined Gor Mahia from Kakamega Homeboyz January 2014, where he initially partnered Owino at the heart of defense – forming a strong partnership that helped deliver a 14th league title for K’Ogalo same year. His staller performance earned him numerous call ups to the national team the Harambee Stars.
He would partner Musa Mohammed subsequently after Owino crossed over to Zambia at the end of the year.
Shakava was part of Gor’s invisible squad of 2015 that went the whole season unbeaten – defending their title for the third time on the trot.
A part from his aerial prowess, the tall defender has an eye for goal especially from set pieces. He announced his arrival at K’Ogalo with a beautiful header against Tunisian giants Esperance in a Champions League match, which they narrowly lost 3-2 at Nyayo Stadium in February 2014.
He would score a replica header against regional heavyweights Yanga SC in a tense CECAFA Kagame Cup 2015 opener before a fully parked stadium, to ensure Gor won 2-1.
Zesco United rivals Power Dynamos are also said to be salivating for Shakava’s signature and it will be interesting to watch who lands him first.
