Swedish based defender Ronald Brian Mukiibi Ddungu believes Uganda Cranes has all it takes to go past their group at the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Gabon 2017 despite being seen as under dogs.
“We are capable of going past our group despite being seen as under dogs, The Cranes have previously played against all the nations in our group D that is Egypt, Mali and Ghana and they matched them so I believe we can make it through,” Mukiibi said.
About whether he will make the final 23 man squad to represent the over 35 million-people nation, the Ostersund towering center half said,
“It’s only hard work that will make me make the final squad, all the defenders are great but, with total hard work and rest I will get there.”
Mukiibi who was amongst the 27 players that showed up on day one training at Paradise fitness gym, acacia mall and Kabira grounds Monday, is yet to feature for Uganda Cranes, having missed out on dream debut for the Cranes against Congo Brazaville in the 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers match in November at Namboole stadium, due to delays in his paper work. However he remains optimistic he will realize it at the AFCON in Gabon.
