Little known Fredric Kitengie Kinkumba is expected to be named new TP Mazembe manager to replace French-man Hubert Velud who left the DR Congo giants.

Kitengie, an insider, has been with the club for sometime.

Velud, who guided the Ravens to 2016 CAF Confederations Cup glory did not renew his stay at the Lubumbashi based outfit, at the end of his contract December 31, 2016, instead opting to join Tunisian outfit Etoile Sportive du Sahel.

“TP Mazembe thanks Coach Velud for his work and wishes him good luck in his new role,” the 5-times African champions said in a statement.

Mazembe could be hit by more departures, especially foreign players due to the prevailing uncertain political atmosphere in the country. Ghanaian Solomon Asante is one such player.

Late last year, the minister for sports Denis Kambayi suspended the topflight citing “violence in stadiums”, however, observers believe the move was to help contain crowds during the volatile period.
