Senegal registered a comfortable 2-0 win aganist Tunisia in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group B match played on Sunday at Stade de Franceville in Gabon.
Liverpool forward Sadio Mane scored the first goal in 9th minute from a penalty after Adennour Aymen brought down Cheikhoi Kouyate in the box ,putting the Lions of Teranga into an early lead.
However, the Tunisia sought to redeem themselves and put up a brave fight as they attempted to find a way back into the match, threatening on the counter attack.
After showing much resilience and stubbornness in defence,Tunisia were eventually breached for the second time.
Sadio Mane’s well taken corner orchestrated Senegal’s second goal of the game when Kare Mbodji rose to power a header past helpless Mathouthi to double the favourites’ lead in the 30th minute.
In-form Liverpool man Mane could’ve added the third moments later but was too casual with the ball at his feet, and saw his effort snuffed out by the defenders.
Tunisia continued to press and Msakni should have scored when he went clean through the ball on goal only to fire weakly at Diallo who made a reflex to deny the striker from a close range.
Senegal made few changes in second half with notable replacement coming from Ismaila Sarr. The Metz winger brought some fresh blood, curling an ausacious shot into the crossbar.
Tunisia dominated the closing stages, but they were let down by perfect Diallo who produced brilliant saves, helping Senegal to register victory.
