Zimbabwe have been hit with an injury blow as KV Oostende striker Knowledge Musona will miss the second Group B match in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations against Senegal , set to be played in Franceville on 19th January 2017.
The 26-year-old sustained an injury during Zimbabwe 2-2 draw against Algeria in the same tournament on Sunday and tests revealed that he will miss the match according to a statement from Warriors team doctor,Nicholas Munyonga.
“Musona sustained a mild right hamstring strain around the beginning of the match yesterday .On assessment we feel there is no muscle tear .It is a grade one strain that we are going to make sure we are going to treat according to standard hamstring strain injury treatment modalities.
“One of the key things of that treatment is rest and obviously we are not going to rush that the player returns to training or playing .
“We are therefore working with a target to make sure that Knowledge is back to play for the third game of the tournament if he is to get better . We have noticed improvement,”read the statement.
The international forward, was subsituted in the 11th minute of the game and his injury did not look serious.Musona has played with the Warriors since 2010, has made thirty six appearances with the Warriors netting sixteen times.
