2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group A fixtures continue on Wednesday when Cameroon face Guinea Bissau at Stade d’Angondje Stadium in Liberville Gabon.

Both teams will be eyeing for their first win of the tournament taking comfort from draws aganist Burkina Faso and Gabon that kept Group A finely poised though the winner of todays game will be exceptionally placed in their bid to make the last eight.

Indomitable Lions

Cameroon failed to fully capitalise on a shambolic first half performance from Burkina Faso on Saturday, only bagging one goal despite the complete confusion among the opposition players. The trailing team vastly improved in the second half though and managed to cancel out Benjamin Moukandjo’s opener, with the game ending to one all draw.

Luckly for Cameroon, host nation and group favourites Gabon failed to win their opener too, leaving all four teams level on points and goals and the group wide open with two games left to play.

Going into Wednesday  match the previous draw does extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches in all competitions, but the fact that four of their last five have ended all square will be a worry.

The Hugo Broos coached side are still favourites for this clash though, and a win would do wonders for their confidence ahead of the match with Gabon.

In an earlier interview Broos reminded the team followers that the tournament is full of suprises and there is no team that should be underrated.

“The history of the Nations Cup always throws up suprises.Rhere is no game you go into with the feeling you csn win it”, said Broos.

“We want to get the quarter-finals and rhen we will see what we can do from there.My team is ready.I know they are an ambitious group and seeking to restore the history that Cameroon had in this competition before”.

The match against Guinea-Bissau certainly won’t be without it’s challenges though.Considered as underdogs they were indeed a shock inclusions in the tournament after topping their group that had Zambia,Congo Brazzaville and Kenya.

They made more surprises on Saturday when they equalised at 90th minute through Juary Soares header earned them a well deserved point against hosts Gabon.

The minnows actually had the better of some portions of that match, and their extremely well organised defence frustrated Gabon for extended periods of the game. This draw made it three wins, one draw, and one defeat from their last five outings.

Guinea Bissau coach Baciro Cande is expected to make some few changes in his line up to boost his squad as he challenge for a win aganist one of the Africa powerhouses in their first ever meeting.

But Toni Silva together with Zezinho Lopes will be retaining their positions as they are the key members to the squads best performance.

Todays game will be the toughest one for Guinea-Bissau history and will definetly be an entertaining and the most watched game in the city of Bissau.
