An Egyptian court has added ex- Pharaohs’s forward Mohamed Aboutrika to the authorities’ terror list for alleged links of funding and supporting terror activities in his country.
According to his lawyer,Mohamed Osman the allegations were made on his client for endorsing the succesful presidential bid of Mohammed Mossi, a muslim brotherhood member which is an organisation classified as terror group in the country.
Aboutrika,the 2008 BBC African footballer of the year, assets were frozen in year 2015 by the government just two years after his retirement.The authorities also took his passport.
Aboutrika played as a second striker for his Egyptian club Al Ahly.He was capped 100 times by his national team,netting 38 goals in his career.
In an interview with state-run Al-Ahram newspaper in May 2015, Aboutrika denied that any association with the Islamic movement
