League leaders Simba SC today got a reality check in their quest to grab the league title after being held to a frustrating goalless draw with Mtibwa Sugar at the Morogoro’s Jamhuri Stadium
The draw is a gift to Yanga who beat Majimaji 1-0 in a previous match
Simba now has 45 points from 19 matches two ahead of Yanga who have 43 points after a similar number of matches.
The match saw both keepers from each side equal to the task with each making great saves in the match
Simba ‘s keeper Ghanaian Daniel Agyei made a great save from Mtibwa striker Rashid Mandawa with his equal opposite number Said Mohammed saved a one on one situation with Mohammed Hussein and another open chance with laudit Mavugo
Shiza Kichuya could have made the difference after his connecting cross from Jonas Mkude hit the post.
The sugar millers talisman Rashid Mandawa also missed a great chance to get the maximum points for the host after his effort was thwarted by Agyei in Simba goal
In another interesting encounter, ice cream makers Azam also fell short to get the full points at their chamazi complex home when visiting Mbeya City held tight sharing a point each .
The match that was played under floodlights saw firmer Azam striker Mrisho Ngassa introduced in the 77th minute for Titoy Okello, a move that proved effective for Mbeya with the former Tanzanian international missing the target by inches on his first attempt at goal
Mbeya City displaced Shinyanga based Stand United from the sixth place both on 25 points while Azam are still stuck on the third spot with 31 points
