DRC Congo coach Florent Ibenge say that Ghana were the better side in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal loss on Sunday but believes that if they learn from the experience they will be a better side in the future.
The Leopards were beaten 2-1 by two times Africa champions Ghana , who played well within themselves and never looked like they really needed to ‘change gears’ for the win.
In a chat with media after the loss Ibenge said that the Leopards players must look at their experience Gabon as a vital learning curve for the future.
“Congratulation to Ghana, they deserve the win,” Ibenge said.
“They played good football and scored good goals as well.
“I wish them well in their next game against Cameroon.
“They came into the game very strong and wanted to win and they were able to win. Congratulations to them.
“For us, we have to go back and learn and correct our mistakes.
“We have a young team, so we will learn and come back again.”
DR Congo finished top of Group C, which also contained reigning champions Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco and Togo, to reach the last eight.
Africa Cup of Nations semifinals will see Ghana up aganist Cameroon in the semi-finals in Franceville on Thursday.
