Tusker share spoils with Mathare United in ding dong battle

Tusker FC moved to second in the KPL table with the 1-1 draw against Mathare United in a KPL midweek fixture played on Wednesday 13 at Ruaraka.

The Slum Boys started on a high and just a minute into the game Roy Syamba hit the side net with the first scoring opportunity of the match, two minutes later Eric Mata shot wide just outside the box after receiving a cross from Daniel Mwaura.

Tusker made their first goal attempt in the 5th minute with Aziz Kemba heading wide Jockins Atudo’s cross.

Eric Johanna put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute drilling home Daniel Mwaura slick pass to the joy of Mathare’s technical bench.

Tusker came close to an equalizer in the 44th minute but Kevin Kimani’s shot off Atudo’s pass went straight to keeper; the match headed into the breather with Mathare enjoying the narrow lead.

Mathare continued from where they left pilling more pressure on the hosts and they should have doubled the lead in 60th minute but Eric Mata’s goal was disallowed for an offside.

The defender gifted Tusker with a point scoring in his own net failing to deal with Jesse Were’s shot in the 80th minute. Mathare United is 10th in the KPL log with 14 points from 10 matches.
