The National Super League (NSL) will, starting 2017 season, be beamed live on Free To Air sports channel Bamba Sport.

This following the signing today (Wednesday 8) of an exclusive three-year TV media rights contract between the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the property owner and Radio Africa Group, Bamba Sport’s mother company.

In the deal, four matches will be aired live every weekend in an unprecedented move – expected to lift the standards of the game in the country.

“This will lift the standard of soccer. The expectations are now very high,” FKF boss Nick Mwendwa said at the launch.

He added, “It’s rare to find a partner who will help you build something. Radio Africa Group is our partner.”

RAG Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Quarcco, termed the deal “historic”, and a support for Kenyan soccer.

“This deal in our minds is historic. It’s historic because it will be the first time in recent generations that Kenyans will get an opportunity to see up to four matches a week free on Bamba TV. It’s also a support for local soccer,” he concluded.

Unlike the more lucrative deal which the topflight, Kenyan Premier League enjoys, this doesn’t carry direct monetary gain for the 18 NSL clubs, however, it open doors for more investors to come on board.

Head of Bamba Sport, Carol Radull urged for support of local football, “Support local football. The end game is to let football be the winner.”
