Vipers Sports Club are the Azam Ugandan Premier League Champions after beating rivals SC Villa 2-0 in a thrilling encounter played at the Nakivubo Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
Vipers SC drew first blood in the in the first half when Deus Bukenya sent a powerful shot that danced it way through the defenders of SC Villa and into the net to put the visitors ahead in grand style.
At half time the visitors Vipers were leading and on resumption former Vipers player Derick Waluhyia thought the centre referee Ali Sabira had called for a penalty when he was brought down amid calls by Villa fans protesting in at the decision.
A beautiful goal in the 70th minute of the game by the league third top scorer Farouk Miya sent Vipers 2 goals up beyond the reach of SC Villa and it looked like the game was already won.Miya caught the Villa defense flat footed, controlled the ball neatly before sending the ball past the flying Villa Custodian for his 10th league goal of the season.
In the 89’ SC Villa fans begun walking out of the Nakivubo stadium as Viper’s supporters started chanting and singing as their second title was almost likely.
