Mathare United moved to 7^th position in the KPL log after beating visiting Western Stima 2-1 in a KPL match played on Sunday 17^th at Nyayo stadium.

Mathare United showed early intention of scoring when defender George Owino headed just over the bar from a  Noah Abich’s corner in the first minute of play.

Red hot Eric Johana put the Slum boys ahead in the 8^th minute from a well taken free kick to the delight of Coach Stanley Okumbi giving his team a deserved lead.

The match stepped a notch higher thereafter with Western Stima firing from all cylinders in search of an equalizer.

Their efforts bore fruit at the half hour mark with Ronald Okoth nicely shielding ball from a throw in before beating his marker Daniel Mwaura and unleashing a powerful shot beating Mathare keeper Peter Okoth for the equalizer as the scores stood at 1-1 as the  match headed into half time all square.

The better part of second half saw much action concentrated in the midfield with no meaningful scoring chances being created.

Ronald Okoth should have put the visitors ahead in the 73^rd minute but Mathare keeper Peter Odhiambo once again came forward to deal with the danger from the right.

Eric Johanna got his brace in the 81st minute with another sublime finish to earn Mathare United all the three important points as their acceleration to the top 8 continued in earnest.
