Ahmad Ahmad, the Malagasy Football Federation (MFF) president and Issa Hayatou’s sole challenger for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidency is expected in Nairobi Sunday 26th on a vote hunting mission.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) nonetheless has not officially confirmed the visit, but the president Nick Mwendwa welcomed his counterpart, saying their door are open for all candidates.

“We are in the campaign season and as a federation we are open to all candidates to come and talk to us,” Nick said.

Probed where he will cast his vote during the next month’s polls slated for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Nick insisted that will remain his secret.

He also confirmed that unlike COSAFA, the Southern African football block, who threw their weight behind Ahmad, CECAFA, the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association has not endorsed either of the two candidates.

“There has not been any CECAFA meeting to decide on which candidate to support,” Nick was categorical.

Ahmad, two-time minister and the current Vice President of Madagascar Senate is challenging Hayatou’s 29-year-rule and is determined to halt the Cameroonian’s quest for a record 8th term in office.

His campaign is hinged on among others, financial transparency, promoting women and youth football and new legal protection.

Ahmad is presently in South Africa on a similar vote hunting mission. He is expected to grace a gathering of FA heads in Harare on Friday 24th.
