Democratic Republic of Congo coach Florent Ibenge has announced that he will not renew his contract with the national football team in June this year.
The 55-year-old, was appointed as Leopards coach in August 2014 to fill the position that was left vacant after Claude LeRoy’s departure.
The coach who is also in charge of local side AS Vita Club revealed this to a section of local press during early morning training with his club in Dakar citing that he want to concentrate with his club duties.
“I will not be renewing my contract with National Football Association,” said Ibenge as quoted by Top Congo FM, a radio station that broadcasts from Khishasa
Since Ibenge signed up as DRC coach, he helped the team to make it to two AFCON quarters finals during the 2015 and 2017 editions.He also won the 2016 CHAN that was hosted by Rwanda.
