KCCA midfielder Paul Mucureezi says that the team is ready for their CAF Champions League first round game against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe stadium starting 2100hrs EAT.
KCCA will face Sundowns from South Africa but despite the side being the tournament defending champions,Mucureezi says his Kasasiro boys is determined to ease past Sundowns into the group stages of the competition.
“We have trained well, everyone is focused and ready for the game.
The weather is good and we are getting used to it. I do not think it will affect us in any way because it is almost similar to the one in Uganda,”said Mucureezi in an interview with local press.
Mucureezi is expected to control the midfielder in creating chances for the striking force. He indicated that the team is confident for good result in a match that will be played under floodlights.
“Playing on floodlights is not a big deal because most of the players have had a chance to play under floodlights before. There is no difference with day light because you see the ball and opponents clearly, so we are not worried at all,”he added.
The Azam Uganda Premier League champions eased past CD Primeiro de Agosto 2-2 on aggregate on away goals rule.Getting a win over Sundowns in both legs will make them the first Ugandan club to make it for the group stages of the prestigious CAF Champions League.
The Kasasiro boys as they are populary known come to South Africa with a decent record, having failed to score just once out of the 22 games they have played this season, scoring a staggering 51 goals, conceding 16 in all competitions.
The return leg will take place at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Kampala on Saturday, 18 March 2017, with the winner after both legs advancing to the prestigious group stage.
