Ulinzi Stars FC,Kenya’s representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup have been left with a herculean task in the second leg after falling 4-0 to Egypt’s Smouha in a first leg clash played on 10 March 2017.
The host scored two goals in the first half and topped up with other two in the second half to set up a healthy aggregate margin ahead of the reverse tie that will be played in Nairobi after two weeks.
Ahmed Raoof opened the scoring for Smouha on the 11th minute before Islam Mohareb doubled the lead fifteen minutes later.
With twenty minutes to the end of the game, Mohammed Abdelazi added the third before Islam Mohareb registered a brace when he sloted in a loop in the last minute of the match to hand Smouha the big margin win.
To make the second round, Ulinzi Stars will need an outright 5-0 win over Smouha during the reverse tie or at the very least match the 4-0 win to send the game to penalties.
To book Smouha who got a bye to the first round, Ulinzi topped Lybian side Al Hilal Benghazi 5-4 on penalties after two legged preliminary round games.
