Little known Malagasy Football Federation (MFF) president Ahmad Ahmad has been elected the new Confederation of African Football (CAF) president.
Ahmad, 57, floored the incumbent Issa Hayatou, 71, by getting 34 votes out of a possible 54.
Hayatou, who has lead the continental body since March 10th 1988 was chasing for a record 8th straight term in office.
The elections took place during today’s 39th Ordinary General Assembly in Addis Ababa.
