Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Council has voted to expel Richard Kazala, FAZ’s vice president, and Executive Committee Member Blackwell Siwale for swindling the federation of gate takings.

The vote was taken today during FAZ’s Annual General Meeting held at the New Government Complex, Lusaka.

The duo were facing charges of allegedly embezzling money the Head of State His Excellency Hon. Edgar Lungu had disbursed for purchase of match tickets for fans during Zambia’s 2018 Russia World Cup qualifier against Nigeria last year.

“The expulsion was not immediate as it came after their suspension was confirmed via a simple majority voting process in which 257 out of 278 votes were in favour of the suspension.

“The expulsion vote was passed by 264 votes out of 284,” a statement from FAZ confirmed.

Mr. Lungu an ardent national team’s supporter is said to have forked out K 1,650,000 for the exercise but Siwele and Kazala only declared K1, 500,000 and pocketed the difference.
