With both sides preparing for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) fixtures in July,Zambia and Zimbabwe played out a 0-0 draw on Sunday in an international friendly match played at National Sports Stadium.
The Zimbabwe side never managed the breakthrough against a stern Zambian defence.
Zimbabwe were thrilled to have held on to the goalless draw as they were lucky not to have gone 3-0 down because of missed chances.
It took Zambia about half-an-hour to get into the game and create some opportunities.
The best one in the first half fell to Fwayo Tembo who went on a run but his shot went off target.
In the second half, Zambia played more on the offensive but chances from Jackson Mwanza,Augustine Mulenga and Ronald Kampamba could not hit the net as Zimbabwe goalie Edmore Sibanda was superb in post for the home team.
The Zimbabwean’s relied on the counter attack as their way of going forward in the second half but they also failed to score.
In injury time, the best chance fell to Mubanga who wriggled his way into the Warriors box but his decision to go for glory instead of setting up Mwanza and Richard Kasonde kept the scoreline blank.
