Embattled AFC Leopards chairman Allan Kasavuli has thrown in towel this afternoon resigning in a huff after handing over the reigns to a caretaker commitee to be headed by former chairman Alex Ole Magelo.
Kasavuli cited his inability to deal with “Ingwe’s” financial woes that have almost crippled the team as he also lamented poor work environment to deliver on election pledges as most of his fellow officials had desserted him.
The final straw that broke the camel’s was on Wednesday when the local media reported that team captain Martin Imbalambala had been locked out of his house by his landlord after accrued rent arrears forcing well wishers to come in his aid.
AFC Leopards financial problems were compounded by the withdrawal of shirt sponsor Mumias Sugar earlier this season and they have not been able to secure a new deal to date despite the sponsor promising to come back onboard until end of the season.
Cases of players staging go slows due non payment of salaries and allowances have been the order of the day at the den as wellwishers came in to salvage the team in its dire moments.
Kasavuli was elected Ingwe chairman in June 2013 beating opponents Daniel Anthony Mule, Dr. Walter Onyino and Mathews Opwora to clinch the seat that has been held by Alex ole Magelo.
