Kinshasa-based side Vita Club have won the DR Congo domestic league after the authorities halted the campaign for extending beyond the usual calendar.

The league was to conclude on May 31 but unforeseen circumstances made it go just halfway, with the second round yet to commence.

The DR Congo football federation confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the entire league has ended in the first round and that the team leading the log has been declared the champion.

Vita Club were ahead followed by archrivals TP Mazembe and CS Don Bosco. All three teams have qualified for Caf interclub competitions, with the first two to play in the Caf Champions League, while the third will play the Caf Confederation Cup.

The only domestic fixture remaining in the campaign is the Congo Cup, set for next month, which will determine the second representative of the Caf Confederation Cup.
