Dennis Onyango has been named as the new captain of the Uganda Cranes team going into 2018 World Cup and 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper will be assisted by former Vipers SC’s defensive midfielder Hassan Wasswa Mawanda.
This was confirmed by coach Multin Sredejovic who announced the choice of Denis Onyango was automatic as he served as deputy to Geoffrey Massa who retired from international football late last month.
“Naturally, after Massa, it was Onyango. He (Dennis Onyango) is the new captain because of his experience and leadership abilities”,said Micho in an interview with Uganda based portal, Kawowo Sports.
The Uganda Cranes next match will be 2019 Afcon qualifier on 13th June, when they clash with Cape Verde at Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde away in Praia.
