A good buy for Power Dynamos
Down memory lane with Lyson SikaongaPower secured the signature of Roan United talisman in division one zone two last season. The name is Lyson Sikaonga. He almost joined Mufulira Wanderers but sources from Mighty camp suggested that they were not comfortable with his age.
Power Dynamos couldn’t hesitate when they realised he was available…. he was signed and joined Aba Yellow!!!
If you think Lyson Sikaonga is new in the Super League think again, he is a full time vetaran and he has seen good days.
Let me take you to one season were he helped Roan United survive relegation. This is the 2008 season.
He never saw a goal until week four when Roan United hosted Nkana. The game ended 1-0 with the only goal scored by Lyson Sikaonga.
One of the heavy defeats for Roan United that season was against Green Eagles in Kabwe. To an United was well beaten via a 5-1 score line. Obrey Zulu scored a hat trick for Green Eagles , Ian Manda scored a brace while Lyson Sikaonga scored a consolation for Roan United. Remember Green Eagles had relocated to Kabwe from Choma after winning promotion in 2007.
In week 14 of that season Lyson scored in a draw against City of Lusaka in Luanshya. The game ended 1-1 , The goal scorer for City of Lusaka was Humphrey Juma .
Those of you that have followed Roan United you will remember Kelvin Mumba who kept scoring and exchanging goals with Lyson Sikaonga and Derrick (Can’t remember the sir name) for Roan United.
When Nkana hosted Roan United in 2008, Lyson was in the team but this time couldn’t find the back of the net. Nkana won by 3-0. Maxwell Phiri scored one and Patrick Kabamba scored a brace of course one was a penalty
Perhaps one of the interesting games of Roan United in 2008 was against Power Dynamos and take note that this is the new club of Lyson Sikaonga. The game ended 2-2 , Ben Mwanza scored in the 12th minute, and Chanda Mwaba equalised for Power Dynamos in the 63rd minute. Luka Lungu the club mate of Lyson Sikaonga today put Power Dynamos in front in the 63rd minute and when it looked like Power Dynamos were headed for victory, Lyson Sikaonga scored in the 88th minute to break the hearts of the Yellow family ….It was a painful draw for Power Dynamos.
That’s it and the goals that Lyson scored in 2008 for Roan United that season Roan United survived relegation. The teams that were relegated were :
1.Nchanga Rangers
2.Nkana
3.Nkwazi and
4.Green Eagles
Zesco finished as champions and Red Arrows was second. Green Buffaloes and ZANACO got the other two slots of the the top four that season.
TOP Scorers
Some notable scorers of the 2008 season were without a doubt Roger Kola who was playing for Zanaco and ended with 14 goals while Emmanuel Mayuka of Kabwe Warriors by then scored 12 goals. Others who scored 12 goals were Aubrey Zulu of Green Eagles.
Simon Bwalya of Power Dynamos now with Nkana scored 9 that season together with Francis Kombe of Power Dynamos that season and Mathew Macha of Nchanga Rangers.
Lyson Sikaonga will be a good addition for Power Dynamos and already stamped his authority in the starting line up for Dan Kabwe.
Power Dynamos will open the season with an away encounter at Heroes Stadium against the rejuvinated Lusaka Dynamos on 8th April 2017.
