SATE SATE OF 2013-CAN HE RECAPULATE THAT FORM
Nkana will again walk into the 2017 season as one of the favourites to win the league, actually most book makers are putting a Zesco – Nkana tussle , ruling out the defending champions ZANACO and the 2011 champions Power Dynamos. But its a long road as we all know that the this will be one of those season that we will never forget.
But for Nkana to have serious contention for the title players need to up the game and if there is one such player with the capabilities to deliver is Ronald Kampamba who in the football circles is now known as Sate Sate.
Without a doubt his best season for Nkana was 2013 were he ended the season as top scorer with 18 goals and a league title.
I relieve to you the 2013 season of Sate Sate and the role he played for Nkana winning their 12th Title .
Ronald started his goal scoring in week two and that was in a game against Forest Rangers away in Ndola. Albert Mwansa scored first for Nkana and Ronald Kampamba added a second via a penalty in the 27th minute. The third goal was scored by Festus Mbewe while Green Mumba and Spencer SAUTU got the two for Forest Rangers .
In week three Sate Sate was again on a scored sheet when they hosted Kalulushi Modern Stars . He scored a penalty in the 4th minute and Festus Mbewe added a second just after the start of the second half.
Ronald Kampamba didn’t score in week four but scored the lone goal against Konkola Mine Police in week five at Nkana stadium.
He also contributed a goal in the 3-0 demolition of Lime Hotspurs in week 6 at the death of that encounter after Lottie Nyimbili and Patrick Chama had scored earlier.
Week 7 again eluded Sate Sate but came back in week 8 to score against ZANACO in a crunch game at Nkana stadium. Festus Mbewe scored the opener in the 49th minute and Kampamba added a second before Henry Banda pulled one back for ZANACO and the game ended 2-1 .
A dry spell would then follow the striker as he didn’t see no goal in week 9,10 and 11 but when Konkola Blades came visiting in week 12, Nkana was up for the game and demolished Blades 4-2. Festus Mbewe scored a hat trick and Ronald Kampamba scored a fourth in the 69th Minute . Donashano playing for Nkana scored an own goal while Francis Simwanza scored a saver for Blades.
Ronald Kampamba would then get injured and miss a couple of games and no goal in the five weeks from week 13 to week 17.
In week 18 on 16th October Sate Sate was back against Kalulushi modern stars away and scoring his first hat trick that season.
He scored in the 11th, 26th and 76th minutes. Josephat Kasusu scored a consolation for Stars . Jimmy Ndhlovu now with Power Dynamos scored a fourth for Nkana.
One of the interesting games of the 2013 season was the home game of Nkana hosting Green Buffaloes in week 19. The game was almost ending and it had past the 90 minute mark and in added time, Ronald Kampamba scored a very good goal and broke the hearts of the travelling fans of GBFC. That game ended just after the goal to leave Nkana fans celebrating. The title was in sight but Zesco United was breathing fire on Coach Massy’s team.
In week 21, Ronald Kampamba scored a brace against Lime Hotspurs. He scored a penalty and another goal in the 62nd minute. Victor Kashitu got the consolation for Hotspurs.
In week 24, Nchanga Rangers was the visitor and another victim of Sate Sate. He scored a brace added to the other brace of Kelvin Mubanga while Martin Daka scored one for Rangers. The game ended 4-1.
In week 28 we were deemed for a title decider against Zesco United and Nkana was at home. If Zesco won this game they would have leapfrogged Nkana and it looked like Zesco were deemed to do that as Winston Kalengo scored in the 8th minute to silence the Nkana faithfuls.
Kampamba equalised in 26th minute and that was it! the game ended 1-1.
Week 30 was interesting and only two teams would win the title on the last day. A draw for Nkana or loss against Red Arrows , coupled by a victory for Zesco against Nchanga Rangers would have given the title to Zesco United. John Chingandu scored for ZESCO in the 10th minute in Chingola and news filtered in Nkana stadium. It looked like things would be very bad for Nkana. Stanley Nshimbi scored first for Red Arrows and serious pressure engulfed Nkana….They were losing the title that looked like it was destined for them!!!
In the 29th minute Donashano Malama equalised and still Zesco were leading.
But everything came to a standstill when the final whistle blew. Sate Sate had a hat trick to his name on the last day. And Nkana won the league.
Top Four
Zesco finished second with two points difference while Nchanga Rangers and Red Arrows were third and fourth respectively.
Relegation
Nkwazi , Lime Hotspurs , Kalulushi modern stars and Forest Rangers were relegated.
Ronald Kampamba though failed to help his team participate further in the Barclay’s Cup after they were beaten 2-1 by Green Buffaloes and Festus Mbewe scored that consolation goal. Alan Mukuka and Stephen Kabamba scored for Green Buffaloes.
Topscorer:
Ronald Kampamba ended the season with 18 goals and top scorer of the Zambia Super League
The striker will be hoping he hits the season running as they welcome Nakambala Leaopards at Nkana Stadium on the opening day of the season!!!
He is surely one of the strikers to watch this season.
