MASA 2-1 METRO SPORTS FC
Metro Sports FC perfect run in the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League came down crumbling after being romped 2-1 by MASA in a high tempered match day 5 duel graced by an enormous crowd at Makongeni Sports grounds.
Two goals from early golden boot contender and leading scorer Tony Okello who took his tally to five goals now after scoring the opener for MASA on the 17th minute and a wonderful free kick by Nelson Mandela on 79th minute was all the home team needed to deflate a spirited Metro who got their consolation through Boniface Aluoch’s 81st minute penalty.
Former AFC Leopards and Sofapaka tactician Ezekiel Akwana who is now in charge of Metro Sports blamed unforced errors by his defence.
“The game was good is just that we did not utilise our chances on our attacking third but I am impressed by how we played even though we lost. In the second half, they (MASA) made good use of their opportunities they utilised defensive mistakes on our side and we paid for it but after the second goal we tried to contain them which we did well but there are some few areas that we are going to look into especially the defence and I believe we will come back stronger. “Akwana said after the match.
His opposite number Hassan Andale was delighted by the results but urged his players to use the win as a motivation to keep up with the fighting spirit.
“It was a tough match, our opponents were better tactically but we won comfortably and I congratulate the boys for holding on I believe we could have scored more goal but I am thankful for the results. It is a vital win for us, we lost our last match and I believe it is a motivation for us moving on forward.
We are going to keep on pressing on we are aiming for as many points as possible during the first leg and taking advantage of the home matches,“ Andale remarked.
