Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has denied reports that it is in advanced talks with Hummel about becoming the new kit supplier of the Leone Stars.
The Denmark based kit manufacturer was reportedly to be in advanced talks with Sierra Leone football’s governing body after the manufacturer discontinued its backing “six”years ago but SLFA has categorically denied that it is in talks with Hummel and labelled the speculation as ”bizarre”.
In a statement released yesterday, it said: “The SLFA wishes to inform the general public that reports making the rounds claiming that a sponsorship agreement has been met between the sporting brand Hummel and the Sierra Leone Football Association are baseless and untrue. In fact, there was never a meeting between the two parties as purported by the said misguided story.
“SLFA will like the public to know that any information with regards sponsorship deals with any sporting brand will be officially put out through the SLFA Media Department,”reads the statement.
A section of local and international media had earlier reported that talks were ongoing and the deal was to be signed yesterday with an assurance given by un-named federation official stating they were to do their best to keep the sponsorship.
Efforts to reach Hummel for clarifications were unfruitful by the time of going to press.
