Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has promised that he will initiate talks with Supersport following their Friday decision to exit as broadcasters of Kenya Premier League.
Speaking this morning in a press conference held in a Nairobi hotel,Mwendwa distanced himself from the blame casted to him by the league body over the latest saga that made South African broadcaster terminate the contract.
“We don’t know the exact reason why they (SuperSport) pulled out and that is why we have planned to meet KPL officials starting next week to get the clear picture. I am sure whatever SuperSport wants, we can reach an agreement and give it to them,”Mwendwa was quoted by Goal.
In a letter that was sent to KPL by SuperSport on Friday it informed the league body the decision to cut ties indicating main reason for the fallout as the upholding of Sports Disputes Tribunal’s ruling which increased the number of top flight teams from 16 to 18 starting 2017.
Supersport terminated the 300 million annual deal that was to lapse in 2021 after they extended the deal by five more years.
