Express FC ejected URA FC 6-5 on penalties to reach this year’s Uganda cup finals on Tuesday evening at Lugazi Mehta stadium after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

In an entertaining match, both sides put up a great show in the first half getting chances but goalkeepers on both sides Mathias Muwanga of URA FC and Emmanuel Opio of Express were alert to deal with all threats to ensure the first half ends goalless.

In the second half, the tax collectors came back stronger an took the lead through left back Allan Munaaba who ball left Opio helpless.

Minutes later, Express FC responded through midfielder Mahad Yaha to ensure the match gets decided on penalties.

In the shootouts, both sides missed once from the first five spots with Julius Mutyaba missing on the side of URA FC and Nigeria’s Ochebuchi missing for Express.

Hudu Mulikyi then missed URA FC’s vital spot in the lose-win situation and Nsubuga calmly converted the vital spot for Express FC which booked them a place in the semi finals.

Express joins Sadolin Paints and Paidha Black angles in the semi finals of the Uganda Cup.

This year’s finals will be played at the Betway Green light stadium in Arua with the getting representing Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup.
