Kariobangi Sharks Academy coach Ayub Hungai believes his side has what it takes to challenge for honors in the upcoming U-13 National Youth Championship that is set to start this weekend.
In a statement released by the club,Hungai who is incharge of youth development in the academy that was established two years ago, says that he got a good group of junior players and he is optimistic that a number of them will make it to the inaugural under 13 national team.
“I am confident that a number of the junior players will make it the national play-offs and hopefully be selected to form the inaugural under 13 national team,”reads part of the statement.
Kariobangi Sharks Academy is one of the teams mandated to provide soccer training and education to young boys with sporting portential in a bid to provide a feeder program to the senior team.
It is one of the sides expected to qualify for the nationals set for April 22-13 in Nakuru where selection will be done ahead of a tournament to be held in Southampton, England in August.
