Gor Mahia have moved four points clear at the helm of the Kenyan Premier League with a 2-1 win over Sony Sugar FC at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu on Saturday.
K’Ogalo, as the 15-times Kenyan Champions are nicknamed have now won four of their five league games.
Midfielder Ernest Wendo opened the scoring for the coach Ze Maria’s charges in the 22nd minute – latching onto a loose clearance from a corner kick before firing past Sony keeper.
Sony, who unusually played an open game against the 2016 champions, leveled in the 38th minute through Ugandan forward George Abege.
The lanky striker, wove through a forest of legs before shooting past Gor keeper Boniface Oluoch, who had moved out of his line.
The match was leveled 1-1 at the interval.
On resumption, Rwandan Meddie Kagere justified his first start of the season with an early goal to calm K’Ogalo supporters’ nerves.
The goal was “Pacman’s” second in two matches.
He scored in Gor’s 1-0 win over KK Homeboyz last weekend at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
Gor’s next outing will be against Bandari FC in Mombasa next week.
With the loss, Millers Sony are now 8th on the table standings with seven points in five outings.
