The season may be just on its fifth round but Sunday’s match between high flying AFC Leopards and Muhoroni Youth in the Kenya Premier League has all ingredients for an epic encounter.
Muhoroni Youth under James Omondi will have a tough task in containing the pressure from the roaring Ingwe who have also registered fantastic results since the beginning of the season.Gilbert Fiamenyo is the man to watch having netted three times in four matches for the former champions with the assistance of enterprising midfielder Allan Kateregga, the Muhoroni side will have an uphill task.
The arrival of new technical bench in the beggining of the season, led by Stewart Hall has transformed the outfit that was relegation threatened last season and now already started harvesting impressive results. Previously Paul Kiogera was reported to have missed the match due to some reasons but he has joined the team in Mombasa ready for the clash.
Muhoroni have not been impressive in their last three matches having registered only one win this season.Departure of most of their troops last season have affected their style of play and it has seen them netting only one goal so far.
But coach James Omondi beleives that his side will get the three points at stake this evening.
“The team is in a good shape. We have trained well all week and are looking forward to the clash.
“We picked a lot of positives from our last match because we managed not to ship any goal after shipping three in our game against Bandari. We know Mombasa has not been a good hunting ground for us but there is always a first time in everything,”said Omondi in a interview with Muhoroni portal.
It is going to be a tough match for both sides if head to head statistics are anything to go by.They have faced off 10 times in the league, sharing four wins each and two draws.
Last season Muhoroni Youth beat Leopards in both legs. The first leg played at Moi Stadium Kisumu was decided by Benjamin Mosha’s goal in the last minute while second leg was was decided by Yusuf Mohammed and Moses Arita’s goals.
