By Austin Oduor Otieno,
The FKF PL transfer window opened on 1st June, just like the top tier KPL.With the battle for promotion to the KPL taking shape, most top teams would want to reinforce their squad by adding in punch and retaining their top players for the second leg.
The transfer window will close on June 30th and clubs have 30 days to reinforce their squad.
It is not yet clear how many teams will get promoted to the top tier though an earlier agreement between FKF and KPL said it will promote six teams and relegate four from the KPL.By that arithmetic, currently Homeboyz, Zoo, Rangers, Sharks, Nzoia and Shabana occupy the first six slots. I is however interesting to know how the second leg will be considering the competitive nature of the league and the subsequent withdrawal of MP $Silva.
Kisii based side Shabana, were the first to show early intent of reinforcing their squad. According to Team Manager Andrew Kanuli, the side will add seven more players to the unit to bolster their squad for the second leg. They will bring on board three defenders, a goalkeeper, two strikers and a midfielder.
Shabana FC who was not happy with their 1-1 draw with table chasers Rangers said they deserved to win that match and blamed the players for not getting maximum points. They remain with a match against Bidco to wrap up the first leg. They lie 6th on the log with 23 points one behind Nzoia and three West Kenya Sugar.
Elsewhere.FC Talanta care taker coach Musa Otieno has said he is optimistic that the team will recover after a series of loses that has seen the team win its first match in nine outings. He has hinted at making significant changes to the playing unit ahead of the second leg.
