The Flames of Malawi have re grouped in the commercial City of Blantyre ahead of their trip to Egypt to meet the multiple AFCON Champs in a high profile friendly match to be played on June 8th 2015.This is in preparation for the Orange CAF Nations Cup 2017 qualifier against Zimbabwe.
Flames Coach Young Chimodzi has clarified that he will maintain the side that won the Plate in the just concluded COSAFA Championships in South Africa. The only additions to his young squad are Esau Kanyende who plies his trade at Polokwane City and Atusaye Nyondo of University of Pretoria.
The coach was optimistic that the exposure to play in Egypt would put his team at a better position when they host Zimbabwe next week in Blantye.
Egypt will play another African team in Burundi three days after the Malawi match. The Egyptian FA announced that development in the official website after Argentine Coach Hector Cuper rejected offers to play Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Uzbekistan and Syria.
Malawi are in Group L together with Zimbabwe and Guinea. The winner of the group qualifies for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
